What is a Roller Futurity?

A Birmingham Roller futurity, is a futurity competition in which contestants send young rollers to the lofts of an appointed kit manager or “kit master”. The young are sent to compete against other rollers and fanciers from all across the country. The young are housed and trained for a year by the appointed kit master. The entered birds are rigorously evaluated and judged in increased interval during the flys progression based according to official classic rules and procedures of the NFCF. This is all in order to crown a champion all around performer for the 2014/15 National Futurity Classic Fly.

About the Futurity

Formerly known as the California Classic. The Cal Classic was developed by well known roller men JV Broek, Dave Sanchez and Mike Curtis in 1989. The Classic Futurity was the roller sports version of the traditional racing homer young bird futurities. Dozens of men annually sent in their young to the california classic from around the nation, in hopes of flying the best individual roller of this prestigious competition. We are proud in bringing back this roller futurity and yet again continue the search for the best individual Birmingham Rollers our nation can offer, and the best breeders alike. We hope to instill the National Futurity Classic as the yearly tradition it was first intended to be. Help us make the 1st annual National Futurity Classic Fly the best Futurity fly ever!  Be a part of History in the making.

Photographed to the right is Ken and Brenda Billings property.  85 Hill Rd has proved to be a great place to fly Birminghams. The BIllings personal lofts are on the North end of the property, the futurity kit lofts are on the south end of the propery on the opposite side of their home. With normal, non windy fly conditions, the kits do not have to struggle with any geographical factors and you will have zero obstruction when it comes to wide open Idaho skies.
